Senior Elastic Cloud Engineer

M9 Solutions is seeking a Senior Elastic Cloud Engineer to work hybrid remote/on-site on a government contract for a client located in Fairfax, VA. Candidates must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust level clearance.
Responsibilities
- Provide cybersecurity tools, integration services, and dashboards to participating agencies to support in improving respective security posture.
- Deliver the next generation CDM dashboard to increase visibility and insight in cybersecurity posture by aggregating, displaying, and reporting data collected from tools and sensors deployed on networks which then report to a managed dashboard.
- Implement and manage Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) and optimize storage, compute, and reliability objectives of Elasticsearch clusters operating within ECE.
- Configure and monitor Elastic Cross Cluster Search (CCS) including connection management and troubleshooting.
- Follow life cycle processes to move solutions from developing to testing to pre-staging to production, including defining, designing and implementing automated processes.
- Configure and maintain Linux based operating system files in support of the Elasticsearch products (yum updates and product version upgrades).
- Install and configure an ECE solution in non-production and production environments.
- Secure the solution with certificates, SSO/PIV authentication, and encryption technologies.
- Define and implement logging and monitoring strategies to ensure optimal system performance.
- Test data flows, troubleshoot issues, and monitor the health of the solution and servers to maximize performance and minimize downtime.
- Define and implement data lifecycle management.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior resources.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Work Authorization: US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to pass a background investigation for a Public Trust level clearance.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, and administering the Elastic stack including Elasticsearch clusters with at least 3+ years of experience in a production environment.
- Experience in defining and implementing logging strategies for purposes of system health monitoring and troubleshooting.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, and administering ECE in a production environment, at least 2+ years of experience must be in a production environment.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Cloud infrastructure, preferably within AWS and must include scaling and capacity management for ECE.
- 1+ year of experience defining and implementing index lifecycle management policies including using frozen tier and searchable snapshots.
- Experience working with automated configuration management tools and playbooks (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt Stack), Docker containers, and GitHub.
- Obtain management skills to lead a team of 3-5 team members and delegate tasks.
- Detail oriented, diligent, and energetic to support the project and program.
- Ability to proactively work independently as well as part of a team to achieve program objectives.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Linux, CentOS and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) skills
- Advanced knowledge of CCS features, including optimizing performance, troubleshooting, security, and managing connections.
- Intermediate level knowledge of data ingests using the Elastic stack using Logstash and Beats.
- Experience working in DevSecOps environments within Agile organizations.
- Experience with CDM tools and agencies, including CDM tools and the role they play in government environments.
- Experience with leading the execution of programs across large and complex multi-agency environments.
- Experience supporting large programs.
- Excellent communication, and relationship skills to articulate advanced technical topics and build consensus among stakeholders.
